Holiday Eating Tips; Nutrisystem week 16 report #NSNation #Spon

Another week of Nutrisystem is complete and it's time to tell you all about it. But before I jump into the report; I want to take some time and talk about what is going to happen next week. It's Thanksgiving and we all know that means lots of amazing food. So I want to help you be prepared with some healthy Holiday Eating tips that will help you not gain a lot of weight over this Holiday.

Holiday Eating Tips Diet friendly strategies.

Holiday eating Tips; Nutrisystem week 16

To help you still enjoy the Holiday festivities without it blowing up your waist line, there are a few tips you can follow to stay on track.

Tip 1: Have a Plan. Think your meals through before you do anything. If you are going to be going to a party where food is involved; eat a complete Nutrisystem meal before you go.  You will feel less hungry and less tempted by the food. Decide before you arrive how much of each type of food you will allow yourself. Decide what types of drinks you will allow yourself. Do anything you can to only eat homemade and not highly processed.

Tip 2: Manage Portions. It is ok to indulge every once in a while. The problem is that many of us, when it comes to Thanksgiving dinner, indulge far too much. We need to be more mindful of our portions of each food. You don't need an entire plate full of mashed potatos and turkey and then turn around and fill up the plate again with the side dishes. Learn your proper portion for your height and weight and then stick to it. You don't need to deprive yourself of the Traditional Thanksgiving food you wait all year to enjoy. But you can limit the quantity to help keep yourself on track.

Tip 3: Savor the moment. All too often when it comes to festive meals; we take as much as we can and eat it as fast as we can. As if it will magically disappear from our plates if we don't try to break the world record for how many spoonfuls of mashed potatoes we can stuff into our mouth at once. OK, so I'm exaggerating a little. But the idea is the same. Take time to really savor each mouthful of food. Like I said, for many of us, we wait all year to enjoy these foods. Lets take the time to enjoy it! It's also shown that  the slower a person eats; the less they end up eating. It has something to do with allowing your body time to monitor the food intake; send and relay messages from the stomach to the brain, etc etc. It's scientific and all that jazz; but for me I say if it works; it's worth a try.

Tip 4: Watch your drinks. Calories in beverages can add up fast. Imagine just two drinks of regular soda or juice can easily give you over 400 calories. That's almost your meal! Try to stick with water for most meals and events over the Holiday season. Then allow yourself one special drink at the biggest family gathering event. Drinking water will also help keep your body running at optimal performance and help you feel full so that you eat less.

Tip 5: Keep moving: After you attend that party, eat that huge Thanksgiving meal or indulge in that pie; don't just lounge on the couch to watch TV. As tempting as that is; go for a walk. Encourage your family to take a nice stroll with you, enjoy their company, but keep your body moving to work off some of the food you just ate.

Nutrisystem week 16 Holiday eating tips report

This week was a great week for me; but not on a Nutrisystem plan perspective. The Husband was home, we had family gathered, and we were celebrating Veteran's Day. For our family, Veteran's Day is a big deal. So we had lots of great food. I tried to control my portions; but with three days of family dinners…it still caught up to me. I know I didn't do as good this last week. But I'm hoping to take what I've learned from the Holiday eating tips from above and apply that for Thanksgiving so I can at least maintain and definitely not gain any more weight that week.

So lets see what my 3 days of family meal gatherings have done.

Starting weight: 185.2
Week 1: 179.4
Week 2: 176.8
Week 3: 176.8
Week 4: 174.8
Week 5: 172.0
Week 6: 172.0
Week 7: 174.0
Week 8: 174.0
Week 9: 173.0
Week 10: 171.6
Week 11: 173.4
Week 12: 174.0
Week 13: 171.6
week 14: 169.2
week 15: 167.0

Week 16: 169.0

So, I gained a little. I'm really not surprised. But I am planning on doing better over the Holidays with the new techniques I've learned. I still have a week before Thanksgiving to get rid of what I gained this week, and then use the Holiday eating tips from above to be extra good over the Holiday so I don't gain it all back again.

  1. The first method is to concentrate on the triggering factors.
s eating habits as well as the physical and psychological
changes in her life. I would not worry about when or how I would binge next.

  2. Should have read this post yesterday, had a party today and didn’t abide by these guidelines and am soooo regreting it, :)

  3. Girl, you are doing so awesome. We need more before and after pics!!! I am so impressed!

  4. Lady, you are doing AWESOME!!!!

  5. You are doing so wonderfully! Keep up the great work!

  6. you are doing so great! Look at how those numbers go down every week

  7. Great tips! Those veggies really look good!

  8. A little setback can happen now and then, but look at your overall weight loss! You are still doing good – and it’s always hard to lose with so many family dinners to go to. I hope to keep losing through the holidays now that I am back on Nutrisystem. I plan to only eat it when I am not having a family dinner (no extra eating out or snacking!). I also plan to walk on our treadmill!

  9. I tried dieting through the holidays last year and failed miserably. Wish I had these tips then!

    • Yeah…I know better than to say, “nope. I’m on a diet I’m not eating that”. Yeah right! It’s Thanksgiving…I KNOW I’m going to be having some of that turkey and mashed potatoes! But if we do it a little smarter; and be consistent with our eating and water intake the rest of the week, we can probably get away with not gaining any weight.

  10. You didn’t gain too much and it can happen, don’t let it affect you! That snack plate looked sooo yummy! Great tips by the way and keep it up! :)

  11. These are all great tips! Thanks!
