Bluapple Produce Saver Review and Giveaway! 3 Winners!

How many of you have gone to the fridge to make dinner or prepare a healthy snack only to find that your Produce has gone bad?  This happens to us Frequently! I don't know if it's because we have an old fridge or if we are just horrible at eating produce fast enough, but EVERY week, we have to throw out produce that has gone bad within 3 days of purchasing it. We were TIRED of throwing our money out with the food.
Did you know–American households throw out  25%  of produce purchased  – because it has  gone bad, tossing out  an average of $600 of food per year per family, according an eight year USDA funded study?

Because of this, I was THRILLED to be able to product test the Bluapple (as seen on "The Dr's" Tv show)!

About BlueApple, What is it and How it works!

The Bluapple is this cute little plastic blue apple, with little holes in the top. But that's not what is impressive, it is the little packet inside the bluapple that works the wonders! This little packet is what absorbs the Ethylene Gas; which causes the produce to spoil. Once you purchase the bluapple 2pack, all you need to do after that is purchase the 12 month refill kits. After 3 months, simply change out the little packets inside the blueapple and you are good for another 3 months! How does it work you ask?

Ethylene gas is given off naturally by fruits and vegetables as a signaling mechanism in order to coordinate uniform ripening. However, once concentrated in your refrigerator or other storage areas, the presence of ethylene gas continues to speed up ripening and hasten spoilage.
The BluApple is designed to provide effective ethylene gas absorption for three months in a typical home refrigerator produce bin or storage container. The active ingredient does not "wear out", but continues to absorb ethylene until it has reached its capacity. A One Year Refill Kit rounds out the BluApple ethylene gas management product line, allowing consumers to reuse BluApples and not add them to landfills. The Bluapple is based on Technology that is used in ships, warehouses and trucks that keep our produce fresh as it is transported across the country. The Bluapple does not release any gas or chemical, but only absorbs, constantly removing this harmful gas from your produce storage area.

The Result is Fresher produce LONGER! It was just like Christmas when my package arrived in the mail, and I immediately put it to work, as we had just purchased Groceries that day. I placed one bluapple in each storage drawer in our fridge–one for Fruits and one for Vegetables, and then I forgot about them.

More than 1 week later: I'm ecstatic to report that we have not had to throw out food this week! And in fact I saw a dramatic difference in our produce! Especially the strawberries! Normally after 2 days in the fridge they start to shrivel slightly, discolor and by 3 days they start to grow mold on all of the berries and the entire pack has to be thrown out. ON PURPOSE, I left a package of strawberries in the fridge for 6 days. None of the strawberries had shriveled, or discolored, and only ONE strawberry out of the entire pack had just began to grow a small section of fuzz. (and it happened to be the one which was crushed at the bottom.). Our lettuce is still fresh, crisp and NOT brown. Grapes, are fresh and crisp. Carrots are brilliantly colored and moist. Our tomatoes are still just as good as the day we put them in the storage bin…1 week ago! I'm just so amazed that NONE of our produce is shriveled or needs to be thrown out!

Little features that I just LOVE about the Bluapple that aren't highly publicized:
–On the website there is a handy little feature where you can type in your email address and enter the date that you opened your packet and started using your blueapple. After 3 months, they will email you and inform you that it is time to refill the bluapple.
–I love the GREEN aspect of the bluapple! After reading the packaging, I discovered that even after you refill the bluapple, the little packet still has a function! Don't throw it away! You can open it and use the contents as plant fertilizer in your household plants!
I've used those other "brands" of items like bags and the like that claim they do the same as the bluapple, but from personal experience, those other products don't work nearly as well as the bluapple works! So I would have to say I'm convinced in how effective the bluapple works and I HIGHLY recommend you each get one!

You can find Bluapple at natural food stores, fine retail grocers, and co-ops around the country or online.

  1. a feature that I like the most about the bluapple is that it is blue. I wonder if Sam I Am likes it blu?

  2. I like that the active ingredient does not wear out!

  3. I like that it was featured on the Drs show. It makes me want to try it!

  4. "We recommend poking a few dozen holes in your standard plastic bags with a fork in order to keep produce humid, but not dripping."
    I thought that was interesting!

  5. I loved the FAQ section on the website. It was interesting to read how to keep avocados & bananas fresh longer.

  6. Mrs Gina Marie Taylor

To preserve avocados for a long time it is necessary to keep them cold and protected by Bluapple™. Store them in the fridge. When you want them to ripen take them out and put them on the counter and let them ripen as desired. Once they have achieved the ripeness you desire, put them BACK in the fridge with Bluapple™. Again, you are not going to have weeks and weeks to use these, but you should be able to keep them pretty well for the better part of a week.

    I didn't know that!

  7. I stopped buying fruits and veggies because they would always go bad before I could eat them. I like the option on their site that shows how to keep avocados fresh. These are my favorite and its difficult to get ones just right. It showed that you could get it before it ripens and keep in the fridge with the blue apple, when your ready for it set it out on the counter to ripen and back in the fridge with blue apple and it will keep it fresh for a bit longer.

  8. I would love to try this :) so much of our fruit and veggies go to waste

  9. Government experts have estimated a typical family of four throws away as much as $600 worth of spoiled produce each year.

Thats Amazing! So much wasted Money.

Thank you for the Chance to win:)
