I've struggled with weight loss ever since I had my first child eight and a half years ago. And in all my efforts to lose weight I find myself more and more over whelmed, stressed and obsessing over losing weight. These are methods that just can't last. You may get a good run of it; but then you will eventually tire out; fall of the wagon and give up. So how do you over come the normal obsession of weight loss and still lose weight? It isn't until I read the new Balance your life, Balance the Scale book by Jennifer Tuma-Young that I finally started to really understand what I can do to overcome my weight issues.

So what is the miracle answer in the book? It's all about finding balance in your life. If things are out of balance, you can't find the peace you need to maintain a healthy life. If you are stressed out; what is the first thing you want to do for meals? Something easy right? And most often that does not include healthy unprocessed options. Usually when you are running behind on time; you are stressed and kids are whinnying you go for the easy fix: Fast Food.  No matter how well you do on a diet; it won't last if you are out of balance in your life. Balance your Life Balance the Scale doesn't just address weight loss, but all areas of your life that need to find balance. 

In fact labeling it as a "weight loss" book simply doesn't do this book justice. It is far more than a guide to weight loss; but a guide for finding peace in one's life, peace with your self and finding happiness with your life. And when all your life is balanced, you will find it is far easier to lose any weight you still feel you need to lose. Or it may just come off naturally without any effort on your part. Doesn't that sound amazing? 

The majority of women are busy—our lives are a delicate balancing act. We're mothers. We're wives. We're bosses and colleagues. Most of us don't have fancy trainers, chefs, personal assistants, or any staff. There's little time to pay attention to our own needs, let alone our weight. Many of us feel overburdened and underappreciated. What we really need is a real-world plan that frees up time, lifts us up, and makes life easier.

So how can you balance your life? How will this help you to balance the scale? This book will teach you how to:

  • Rekindle your true food-life connection 
  • Release the stuff in your mind that weighs you down 
  • Assess who you are and what you stand for so you can move forward with a "sharper compass"
  • Cleanse and detoxify your life and your body
  • Increase your energy with 3 critical fuel sources (2 of which have nothing to do with food!!)
  • Make choices that align with your best self
  • Set and reach goals by removing the frustration “how?” to make it happen.
  • Confront obstacles and roadblocks head on so they don't keep popping up
  •  Plug into life so you are happy, healthy, and most importantly not wasting precious time worrying about your weight

So what does all that mean? Well, you will just have to get your own copy to uncover it all as there is too much for me to talk about in one post. It is quite an amazing book that will make you think about your life and how you can simplify what gives you the most stress and find a better balance. Finding balance in our lives seems to be the biggest struggle for women and as you work your way through the exercises in this book you will find that your life is becoming more balanced. 

As I read through the book, I found myself thinking, "this makes total sense, why didn't I make the connection before?" It is simple to understand and comprehend the techniques Jennifer tries to teach you. And if you will follow her suggestions and tips; you will find yourself in a much better place. Don't get discouraged as you go along; it all won't fix itself right away. It's not suppose to. Jennifer knows making these changes takes time and she doesn't push or expect you to miraculously change over night. I love how there is no pressure to be perfect, or to follow the program perfectly; but merely to do what you can. But when you see what your end result could be, you find more motivation to continue through the steps to finding that balance in your life.

I've been working on my own life following the advice in the Balance your life Balance the Scale book and I'm finding I'm much less stressed. Which it's been proven that stress actually hinders weight loss. Oh, I still have a lot of work left to do to complete the B.A.L.A.N.C.E. program; but I can see a big difference in my life just with the few items I've implemented thus far. I look forward to continuing on this life altering program and see the difference when I have completed all the guidelines. 

I would highly recommend this book to any woman who feels overwhelmed in their life, unsatisfied, or struggling with weight loss. As I said before, it is far more than just another weight loss self help book. But one that could possibly truly transform your entire life experience.

  5. Since I’ve been on Nutrisystem and trying to lose weight, I am beginning to learn that health goes way beyond the food you eat. It’s also about your stress level, the amount of “busy” in your life, etc. I definitely need to balance my life, and I am sure it would help lower the scale!!
