Adventures With Lost Pacifiers, Have a Happy Baby with Paci-Plushies #Mompact

Have you ever tried to put a baby to bed without a pacifier? My two oldest boys never took a pacifier so I never really understood the trials that came with a lost pacifier until I had Jade. She quickly took to a pacifier and it was a lost cause to teach her how to to go bed without one. Heaven help me when I ever lost the pacifier! Not only did she have to have a pacifier, but she was also very particular about what pacifiers she would take, so a backup just wouldn't do.

We've lost her pacifier multiple times. It wasn't such a big deal until it was nap time or bed time. Let me tell you there was no consoling her until that pacifier was found! There was also no "tough Love" option. Believe me, I tried every method to convince her she didn't need it to go to sleep. Even just letting her cry it out didn't work, because 2 hrs later she was STILL awake and refusing to sleep without her pacifier.

pacifier-clip At first I tried keeping her pacifier in a fun pocket of her crib bedding. She knew right where it was, and could reach it, therefore she would get it between nap times and carry it around the house and lose it when I wasn't looking. Then I made those handy pacifier clips, where you clip it onto her pacifier and then clip it onto her clothing. That worked for a short while, as when her pacifier wasn't in use, I would clip it to her bedding so I wouldn't lose it. But then she learned how to unclamp the pacifier and carry it around again, and lose it. A little string of ribbon did not help us find the pacifier any better, as it would still end up in tiny crevices in her bed, under her bed, or behind toy boxes.

Then we tried the adorable Paci-Plushies, and it is by far our favorite method of keeping track of the Pacifier! The paci-plushies are adorable and light weight plush animal toys that have a pacifier attachment that helps you keep track of your pacifier. And it even comes with it's own pacifier!

The pacifier that comes with the Paci-plushies is easy to use and even has it's own carrying case that helps keep it clean between uses. I really love the pacifier that comes with the Paci-plushies. But as I said, Jade is quite particular with her pacifiers so I was worried that maybe she wouldn't like the pacifier.

I was right to be concerned. Jade wouldn't take the new pacifier. I haven't been able to get her to even try it. I was disheartened, and discouraged because I didn't want to go back to the struggle of not being able to find the pacifier at nap time. But thankfully I didn't have to! The Paci-plushies are compatible with almost every pacifier on the market! They are even now compatible with the Soother pacifiers! The Paci-plushies have a flexible plastic ring which easily slips over the end of the pacifier.

Jade uses a special Orthodontic type pacifier with the old fashioned ring on the end. And the Paci-plushie was really easy to attach to Jade's special pacifier.

So getting the paci-plushie attached to Jade's pacifier was the easy part. Getting Jade to actually use it was the hard part. When I first offered it to her, she wanted nothing to do with it. She said, "NO!" and threw it at me. Then the next time I gave it to her, she tried to take the paci-plushie off. Thankfully she couldn't do it. Which makes me love the Paci-plushie even more, knowing that Jade can't get it off by herself!

It was nap time so finally I made Jade lay down, put the paci-plushie next to her in her room, told her good night and I walked out the door. She cried and fussed for a few minutes but in less than five minutes she was quiet. I poked my head back in to see what she had decided.

Jade was standing in her crib sucking on her Paci-plushie and petting the cute Cuddles the cat. Success! She adapted and now she loves it! I've found her playing with the paci-plushie even without sucking on her pacifier.

The paci-plushie makes it really easy for Jade to put the pacifier into her mouth on her own, and it gives her a fun little friend to cuddle with while she sleeps. Also because of the larger plush animal toy, it is a lot easier to find when wrapped into her bedding, or when she throws it out of her crib.

We also went camping this last weekend, and let me tell you I was really worried about losing the pacifier while we were camping. I didn't need the headache of a crying baby in the middle of a big family reunion camp and her keeping everyone else awake. I took the paci-plushie with us and it was a life saver! It was always very easy to find no matter where Jade dragged her pacifier, and it offered her a bit of home comfort even though we were sleeping in a new environment for her.

We also often travel to Grandma and Papa's house every Sunday, and Jade usually takes a nap there so I always bring her nap time accessories; blanket, stuffed animal, and pacifier. Usually I am always losing the pacifier in the diaper bag and it takes forever to find it, but since attaching the paci-plushie I can find it easily every time.

If your child uses a pacifier, and you struggle with keeping tabs on it, I highly recommend the paci-plushies. Not only are they incredibly adorable, but they are also quite useful! I have not yet lost Jade's Pacifier since attaching it to Cuddles the cat. It is loved by little ones and gives such peace of mind to moms and dads!

  7. Okay I will admit- I have one of each. For real, we love them so much!! My son who is 15 months still uses it. It his comfort and soother. Fabulous review!!!

    • I am seriously contemplating getting another one because I really do love this! Plus I have friends who are expecting..they’d make great baby shower gifts too!

  8. We have a wubbanub which is the same idea with a soothie attached. Seriously- it has been wonderful. She took to it at 2 weeks old, and quickly learned how to put her paci back in her own mouth. It helps keep it from counting around, getting lost (like yours) and keeps the paci less dirty. I think for the next baby we will do a paci pal like you because then you can remove it to sanitize the paci and can replace each part easier.

  9. That is super cute. I think that may have helped my kids give up the binkie to have to carry that around. I lost those things constantly and seemed whenever we travelled we had to stop and buy more!
