Family Game Night, Bejeweled Frenzy board game for Families.

Have you heard of the game Bejeweled? I’m sure you have. It is a super popular online game. Almost all of us have it on our phones or tablets. Thanks to Hasbro, they have brought this popular game to the wonderful world of board games! It’s a great addition for your next family game night!

Bringing Bejeweled Frenzy to Family Game Night.

I asked my kids if they knew what Bejeweled was. Their reply “Yeah! That’s the game Grandma Plays on her phone all the time!” Oops! Sorry Mom-in-law. Really she doesn’t play it all the time. But the kids remember seeing her play it. With the fun jewels and music. And they have been wanting to play it ever since. So they began to dance around the house when I pulled out the new Bejeweled Frenzy board game to play this afternoon for an early Family Game Night.

The point of the game is to collapse matching cards and collect gems, and earn bonus points with Boost Gems! When the cards run out, count up points for each card stack and Boost Gem. Whoever has the highest score is the Bejeweled Frenzy winner!

The Game is designed for ages 8 and up. So it is perfect for our little family! Both boys are in the age range. And they picked up on the rules rather quickly.

At first the directions of the game are a little confusing as you read them. But keep going and read all the way till the end. It all starts to become clear once you finish both sides of the “directions sheet”. Then the game play is quite easy to follow.

The idea is really similar to the online game. Get three matching gems in a row and you collapse the cards into one stack. You can collect the Boost Gems if you are the first person to get three in a row of that color! When it comes time to tally up the points cards in your pile are worth 1 point each. But the Boost Gems are worth five! So they are definitely something you want to collect!

Not to mention they are just fun to have in front of your card piles!

The game comes with a link to redeem four Rare Gems to be used in the Bejeweled Blitz online game. You will need to supply the mobile device to utilize the Bejeweled Blitz features. To access the digital features, you must be 13 years or older and have a valid Facebook account. Additional terms and conditions apply to digital features offer.

But back to Bejeweled Frenzy. It is a perfect addition to our family game night! Our first round, Mr Talmage won by a landslide! Dang! I underestimated him! I even had the largest collection of Boost gems. But he still wiped the floor with me and his older brother. The Game doesn’t take long to play. And it is fun for everyone. Easy enough for the kids to follow and play without a lot of help.  Yet still engaging for adults to play too.  See, perfect family game night board game!

Bejeweled Frenzy retails for $14.99 and can be found in many retail stores, Amazon and on Hasbro. You can also learn more by following Habro on Facebook and Twitter.
